I was in Copenhagen to play a gig at Bakken
The world’s oldest fairground
Still running
My sister had come along to make sure I would actually make it there
Cos I wasn’t feeling well
A fat little tick
Had tried sucking blood from my hip
From the bite a red rash had started spreading
In the shape of an evil eye
Adam Christensen (b. 1979 in Aylesbury, England) is a London-based multidisciplinary artist working with textiles, music, video, installation, and performance. Based on his immediate experiences, coloured by the theatricality of the everyday, the spectacle of domesticity, chance encounters and emotional and physical dramas, Christensen writes lyrics that he later powerfully performs in self-made extravagant drag.
Solo exhibitions of his work have been presented most recently at Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof in Hamburg, Germany (2021), Goldsmiths CCA in London (2019), Almanac Projects in London (2019), Overgaden in Copenhagen (2018), and Kunstverein in Hamburg (2018). His work has been shown in group exhibitions at Pavilion Nordico in Buenos Aires (2019), Camden Arts Centre in London (2019), Hayward Gallery in London (2018), Raven Row in London (2017), and ICA in London (2012). Christensen performed at OGR in Turin (2019), Royal College of Arts in London (2018), Tanya Leighton in Berlin (2017), Serpentine Galleries in London (2016), and Glasgow International (2016).
