False Falling is a performance that artfully stretches the perception of time. Through daring and attentive listening, the piece examines the similarities and disparities between mental and physical endurance while embracing failure and exploring its various possible interpretations. Set amidst a landscape of fragile plaster and rigid metal structures, five delicate bodies execute cycles of gestures that teeter on the edge of functionality and futility. As the performers adapt themselves within these constructions, which at times evoke an absurd gym or an oversized playground, they continuously search for the fleeting moment that precedes both exhaustion and success. In doing so, they probe the (im)possibility of achieving the ultimate goal. This intricate dance becomes a game of building and dismantling expectations, oscillating between tangible and intangible realities, and challenging the audience to reevaluate their own perceptions of success, failure, and the human experience.

Keithy Kuuspu (b. 1994 in Tallinn, Estonia) is a young performance and dance artist. She completed her studies at Tallinn University’s Baltic Film, Media and Arts School, majoring in dance, and earned a master’s degree in Contemporary Physical Performance Making from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. In her artistic practice, Kuuspu delves into the exploration of the definition and boundaries of reality by examining primitive human behaviours, everyday structures, and the influences that society exerts on individuals. Kuuspu is particularly fascinated by the events and circumstances that precede and follow the processes of creation, as well as the development and shaping of one’s self within these contexts. By investigating the complex interplay between societal norms and individual identity, she aims to uncover the underlying forces that drive human behaviour and creativity.
